The thriving Holy Resurrection Orthodox Parish in Buhemba, Namayingo district – Bugiri

Initiated in 2003, the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in the village of Buhemba –  Namayingo district – Bugiri has gone through a lot of ups and downs to what it is right now. This center has a well- constructed Church structure in 2009 through donation from St. John Chrysostom Fraternity NIKAIA. It is seated on 30 acers of land donated by by Mzee Were Adande, hence ample space for the development of the work of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Irrespective of the different difficulties this center has gone through in past times, Rev. Fr. Josephat Ojiambo (replacing Rev. Fr. Joseph Edotu), upon completion of his studies from Greece, with the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Jonah of Kampala, he returned to Uganda at the end 2015 and embarked on the work of resurrecting the spiritual and physical affiliations of the people in the Buhemba Orthodox community. With the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ who resurrected after 3 days from the grave, Fr. Josephat is optimistically obtaining the goal that God sent him to full fill in the Buhemba community.

With the assistance from ADELFOTITA THEOLOGON I ZOI (ΑΔΕΛΦΌΤΗΣ ΘΕΟΛΌΓΩΝ Η ΖΩΉ) – Athens – Greece, and other personalities who initially embarked on the development efforts of this center, notifiable achievements have been put in place which range from a well piped and taped underground water system which provides water to the community through the different water-tap points. This project was officially opened by his Eminence in the month of August 2017.

On the 28th. January 2018, His eminence was once again invited to officiate the opening of the newly renovated health center III (Holy resurrection Health Center Namayingo) at the parish. The health center is equipped with the necessary requirements to enable service provision. These range from a microscope, a medical store, maternity center, dental and minor operations room to mention but a few. However small in number the equipment may be, the community members appreciate the good work so far and on the day of grand opening the Uganda Orthodox Medical Bureau (UOMB) led by its Executive Secretary Dr. Sande Gorge provided free medical services to the people through the organization’s medical outreach program. This health facility will be under the UOMB so as provide proper follow up and maintain the required standards. May God our Lord continue to bless those that support his Mission work

Besides the above developments, the Holy Resurrection Parish has a built Secondary and Primary school though at the moment it’s still struggling with the required scholastic materials and financial support to establish the required standards as per the Uganda Ministry of Education.
