Over 200 people join Orthodox Christianity through Holy Baptism in the western part of Uganda!

As we kick start the new year 2018, faithfuls in the western part of Uganda in the District of Ntungamo, Rubaare sub-county, Rwemiriro village decided to Join the Orthodox Catholic Church through engaging in the sacrament of Holy Baptism. May our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified.

The Orthodox faith has been so pronounced in all parts of Uganda, the western being exclusive; but due to the efforts of Rev. Fr. Aristotle Asiimwe, upon blessings from H.E Archbishop Jonah of the of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala and all Uganda, embarked on the evangelism mission in the Ankole region that saw over 200 people deciding to join the Church. Among the baptized included the young, youth and elderly people some of whom were above the ages of 60 years.

This community was started in mid-2017 around the month of September through the acquisition of a 4.2 acre of land just along the hills of Ntungamo-Kabale high way. Currently they are worshiping through temporarily structure which was set up through the efforts of the people after longing to have a place of worship but a temple to be named after Panagia Mirtidiotissa is one of the future prospects of this station. This center is strategically located and there are a lot of developmental plans for this area ranging from a secondary school to be named after St. Paisios, a hospital to be named after St. Porfirios and a community center.
Apart from the stated future plans of this center, there are already on going activities such as farming where crops like maize, ground nuts and beans are being cultivated so that the vast land is put to proper use before hopes of instating permanent structures come to reality.

The community commended His Eminence for allowing Fr. Aristotle Asiimwe to come and engage with them so as to quench there thrust for Orthodoxy. We pray that this region turns into a full deanery through discovering new communities and setting up different Orthodox Church parishes.

All proceeds for the development of this center and other missionary attempts can be communicated through our donation platform; http://www.ugandaorthodoxchurch.co.ug/donate
