On Tuesday 23rd of July-2019, His Grace Bishop Silvester Kisitu of Gulu and Eastern Uganda presided over a Joyful Mystery of Holy Baptism and Chrismation of Orthodox Coverts at St. Laverentios Orthodox Cathedral – Gulu.
In the process, a commendable number of Children from Orthodox families who had not been officially inaugurated into the Holy Orthodox Church were baptized and chrismation was carried out on a number of Converts in to the Orthodox Faith.
On the same occasion, the Bishop welcomed a team from St. Mary’s of Egypt Monastery – Monde, Luweero District, led by the Abbess Sister Maria and accompanied by Sister Theosemni, who also traveled with missionary friends, 2 Sisters in Christ from Romania, and a brother from Canada. The Sisters of the Monastery offered 10 scholarships to children from Northern Uganda. The Children will be taken care of at the St. Mary’s Orthodox Orphanage in Monde, where they will be raised up in the love and fear of God and as well obtain Education from there.
After the Baptism, the Bishop was happy to have lunch at his residence with the children and the Visitors. The Children from the monastery that came along with the sisters exhibited an amazing entertainment presentation themed on the suffering of the African Child but also of the hope and joy of the Children in the love of Christ through Christian charities and help from kind hearted people.
Glory and thanks to the Lord!!
Am overwhelmingly happy for the orthodox Christians that side.
For our Lord is manifesting his grace and mercy onto us
