St. Nicholas Orthodox church Namungoona.

This is the main cathedral of the Orthodox Church in Uganda. It’s located in Kampala District, Kyaddondo County, Rubaga Sub County, Namungoona village 6 kms – Hoima road. It was started in 1934 by the following people;-Late Bishop Spartas Ssebbanja Mukasa, Late Rev.Obadhia Basajjakitalo, Late Archbishop Theodorous Nankyama, Late Rev. Fr. Irineos Magimbi. It’s a Well-built church and the oldest church in Uganda with thousands of parishioners and a continuous catechesis, with Fr. Nicholas Bayego the fore – Parish Priest. It seats on 9 acres of land donated and leased by Ssekabaka Daudi Chwa II of Buganda and two other places like:- Lubya land of 6.5 acres and playground Namungoona of 1acre of land.Lubya  land  of 6.5 acres and playground Namungoona of 1 acre of land.

It has the most influential institutions of the church which include;
  • Cemetery of some influential personalities of the Church
  • Metropolis offices of Uganda Orthodox Church
  • HIV/AIDS program and OVC program
  • Spiritual Community Center for all functions
  • Printing press for publications.
