The Caretaker Archbishop of Holy Metropolis of Kampala Makarios of Kenya is on pastoral visits in Uganda.

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Kenya and Caretaker of Holy Metropolis of Kampala yesterday visited St. Luke Orthodox Parish in Lwemyiyaga, Ssembabule district where he celebrated Divine Liturgy in commemoration of St. Nectarios of Aegina. He was welcomed by Rev. Fr. Anastasios Isabirye the area Dean , Fr. Paul Bamutiire the parish priest, Hon. Theodore Ssekikuba , the local leaders and the parishioners.

After the divine liturgy, Hon. Ssekikuba the area member of Parliament during his speech, was cognisant of the efforts of the Uganda Orthodox Church for assisting the Lwemyiyaga community with a fully facilitated and equiped School with the support from the International Orthodox Christian Charities – IOCC. He further requested for the continued cooperation between the church and community for development in the area.

In his speech, Archbishop Makrios informed the congregation that with wisdom and knowledge from our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, it is his wish to build more Mission Schools in Uganda that as he has done in Kenya.

The Archbishop arrived in Uganda on Monday and has since conducted pastoral visits in Luweero district, this one in Lwemyiyaga and is currently in the western part of Uganda, Fort portal in particular.
