New Bishoprics created from the Diocese of Gulu and Eastern Uganda.

The Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa which has convened for 3 days in the great city of Alexandria chaired by His Beatitude Theodoros II has resolved to create two independent dioceses from the Holy Diocese of Gulu and Eastern Uganda.

The Diocese of Gulu was established in 2018 from the Holy Metropolis of Kampala and all Uganda during the Holy with His Grace Bishop Silvester as the first bishop and it covered both the Northern and Eastern regions of Uganda with the sea in the then Gulu town which was recently elevated to a city.

This decision by the Synod was based majorly on the need to effectively provide spiritual leadership and guidance to both the flock in the Northern and Eastern Regions of the Diocese which are totally distinct in a number of aspects, geographical divide in terms of accessibility being one of the major.

The decision resulted in the creation of a new HOLY DIOCESE OF JINJA AND EASTERN UGANDA with the sea in Jinja City and a new HOLY DIOCESE OF GULU AND NORTHERN UGANDA with the sea in Gulu City.

We give glory to God!
